Responsible to develop schematic diagrams, bills-of-material (BOM), drawings and specifications for Battery Management Systems (BMS). Create schematics and wiring diagrams for the battery management and related systems. Formally release work products (specifications, designs) into use, including appropriate internal and customer-specific sign-off and release steps. Perform Technical Design Reviews (TDRs) within company and with customers with TDRs being expected at the Concept, Detailed Design, and Production Sign-off stages. Create test plans and execute test plans for verifying electrical hardware and EMC functionality. Develop and execute design validation plans at the circuit level; assist in the development of design verification capabilities, including hardware-in-the-loop testing platforms, breakout boxes, and exercisers and data acquisition systems.   • Tier 1 experience working directly with OEM Design/Engineering to complete Advanced Packaging and Feasibility studies
  • Experience working with OEM Body in White Engineering.
  • Able to interface with Product Engineering and other engineering related departments
  • Knowledge in standard part manufacturing processes: injection molding, stamping, extrusions, and assembly
  • Working knowledge of GD&T
  • Working knowledge of vehicle OEM design standards and CAD requirements (IMAN & Teamcenter) (a plus not required)

Functional Safety Manager

Battery System Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring that our battery systems our high voltage battery systems comply with ISO-26262 and related standards for safety. They will work very closely with internal and external engineering teams, customers, and suppliers to achieve that objective.  The person is expected to have appropriate formal training, a strong analytical foundation and demonstrated capability to seek and secure relevant data and information from subject matter experts in cell characteristics, electronics, embedded software, and mechanical and thermal engineering. Direct experience with ISO 26262 is strongly desired; however, it is recognized that standard is relatively new.  Therefore, demonstrated deep experience in failure mode analysis, fault-tree analysis, system diagnostics and system prognostics will be expected.

 Responsibilities

  • Own and maintain battery system Technical Safety Concept and related documentation
  • Review and assess customer requirements for relevant safety implications and feasibility
  • Own and maintain safety-related fault analyses across electrical and electronics hardware and embedded software.
  • Work closely with internal and external engineering teams, suppliers, and customer to ensure coordinated safety compliance from specifications to design to production.
  • Lead system safety design reviews
  • Maintain and enhance battery system design guide(s) to capture lessons learned and continuous improvement
  • Deliver the System Safety Plans and Reports in a timely manner; that is, at the appropriate development gateways to ensure designs are implemented in time for validation and production.

Must Haves

Position Overview
The Embedded Software Development Engineer reports to the Software Systems Engineering Manager, and works in a cross-functional development group supporting LGCPI’s Battery Management System (BMS) software for multiple customers in both automotive and non-automotive markets. LGCPI’s BMS platform is in production use on multiple global OEM Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEV), Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV) and pure Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV). The Embedded Software Development Engineer will work directly on architecture, design, development and testing of existing and new BMS functionality in the areas of diagnostics, battery cell and pack monitoring, thermal control and more.   • Develop and execute pack/module/thermal design/development for Lithium-ion battery systems through leading technical decision & direction

The Test & Validation Engineer ensures the quality of projects and designs through the execution of validation test plans for lithium-ion battery packs and associated electronic components. The Test & Validation Engineer is the primary coordinator for all aspects of the DVP&R for the programs they are assigned to.

Essential Duties

• Assist with early requirements definition; translate customer performance requirements into detailed test plans and procedures

• Develop DVP&R plans, including the incorporation of FMEA test requirements, customer test requirements, and internal LGCPI requirements.

• Assist product engineers with the definition of required device-specific test equipment (test harnesses, functional testers).

• Obtain quotes from outsourced test labs for required testing and issue PO requests for testing services.

• Coordinate project-level DV/PV test sequence and timing plans; schedule tests assets and ensure testing proceeds per the plan.

• Prepare summary test reports; review detailed test reports from test laboratories to ensure test results are properly reported.

• Assist in quality, reliability, and failure reporting; drive closed-loop handling of all issues to ensure continuous improvement and to prevent recurrence of testing process failures

• Support the validation portion of Technical Design Reviews within LGCPI, with LGCPI affiliated companies, and with external customers.

• Assist laboratory technicians during testing (on-site and off-site) with test set-up and execution.

• Order and schedule test articles and interfacing equipment as required.

• Work with validation laboratories and hardware designers to ensure that device-specific support equipment is defined and fabricated in time for test execution.

• Provide daily and weekly summary reports to management for assigned programs.

• Ability to work flexible hours when necessary.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree (B.S. / B.A.) in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering from a four-year college or university or equivalent experience required.

• Minimum 2 – 4 years of experience with automotive product validation required, including the development and execution of detailed test plans and reports.
